Keba's on the Eastside, aka Achim's K-bob (Lumpkin/5 points) aka Uncle Otto's European Eatery (Broad St-Downtown). Best sandwich in town.
WARNINGS:
5 Star Day was great food, but in 2000 I had the Soul Chicken and I got salmonella poisoning. Under cooked. I have not been back. Food poisoning is hit or miss anywhere, Loco's Harris street got me in Feb 2010, do not order the fish sandwich!

just wondering if anyone has any ideas for dinner on a first date...i'm new to athens and just needed some ideas. looking for a place that isn't super overpriced but still has a nice atmosphere
If you're wanting a fancy feeling / atmosphere, Harry Bissett's New Orleans Cafe or Porterhouse Grill would work.
For the eclectic feeling of Athens, you might try Five Star Day Cafe or Mama's Boy.
If you like Mexican, you can't beat the food, service and laid back atmosphere of Taqueria La Parilla in the Homewood Hills Shopping Center.

La Parilla, the mexican restaurant in the Homewood Hills strip mall is the best! Waitors are always polite. Food is awesome (especially cheese dip). And this sounds weird but they have the best tap Diet Coke in town - they must have a special formula. You hardly ever have to wait... and lots of easy parking.
